THIS DAT,

The South Wainiakariri Kiver Board • held an ordinary meeting this afternoon ; j present — Mr F. Jones, Chairman, and : Messrs W. Boag, T. Wilson, E. M. 'I'aylor, r H. W. Peryman, W. Attwood, and E. W. : England. j

overseer's report,

The Overseer's report was read. He stated that there had been no freehet since the last meeting. No 8 groin at Chaney's had been completed at a cost of .£69 9s 2d. The material used was 75 two-hprse loads of manuka, half a ton of No. 10 wire, 15 cords of willow, and about 300 yards of sand and shingle. The report referred to other small items of expenditure.

AUCKLAND CKMENT,

The Chairman eaid that the Overseer had verbally reported that the Auckland cement had provtd itself to be superior to the imported article, and wa9 procurable at the same price. The Works Committee could see the concrete blocks he had made and judge for themselves. Of course the blocks had not yet been subjected to the force of the river currents.

EXPENDITURE

The Chairman Eaid that the Board had money in hand, as they had spent only £330 out of the estimated expenditure of £500.

CORRESPONDENCE.

The Lincoln Road Board wrote, enclosing a cheque for £25 on account of rate 3 collected to date.

The Commissioier of Crown Lands wrote to the effect that he had recommended the Government to vest in the Board Reserves 1680 and 2695.

The letter was received

Mr Acton-Adams wrote re letting 1 a portion of the river-bed. His letter was referred to the Works Committee to act.

FINANCE

The Chairman stated that the debtor balance at the Bank was £162 9s 2d. The wages sheet showed an amount of £51 19s Bd, and other items made up a total of £110 9a Bd, which was passed tor payment. The Board then adjourned.
