SUEZ CANAL TRAFFIC.
In 1885, the total tonnage of British- owaed ▼essels, passing through the Suez canal, was 4,861,018, les3 than 7per cent of which wero me-* of-war, transports, &-, ; tho French -owned tonnage during tha saiuo period, waa 573.6-5, and no lesa than 44 per cent of this total were on Government acoount, owing to the war in Tonquin. The foUowing list shows the relative tonnage* of the different nations, for the year 1885 ;—
