♦ — [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 1». A fire started at Kaiwarra, two miles from' town on the Hutt road, at one o'clock this afternoon, in a two-storey house occupied by J. Barlow. A brisk breeze blowing down tlie valley threatened the whole township, and the Wellington Brigade went out. The pressure of water was eo great that the hose burst, and during the delay two more cottages were burned. The fire was then got under. One of the houses waa only bought and occupied laßt week. The insurances are not obtainable, but the London and Liverpool office is concerned. Fireman Parsonage slipped while entering a cab, and broke his leg. The cause of the fire was a defective chimney.
