The following cable message has been received by the New Zealasd Loah asd Mbbcastiih Aoehct Compaht from London :— "The sales opened with spirit to-day. Greasy, merino, and fine greasy cross-bred have advanced Id to l\i per lb. Clothing end combing washed, 2d to 2|d per ib; and scoured. 2Jd to 3d upon the closing rates of last series. For coarse greasy crossbred the market ia firmer. The attendance of both Home and foreign buyers is good, and competition by both is active. Forein buyers are operating with confidence. The sales comprise 323,000 bales, and the opening catalogue contained 13,000 bales. 27,000 bales haye been sent direct to the manufacturing diistricts."
