The Late Mr M'Devitt.
Tho remains of tho late Mr P. M'Devitfc will be interred on Saturday afcernoon at 2 p.m., with military honours, he having boen a sergeant in the Irish Rifles. Lieutenant-Colonel Lean has kindly granted permission for Volunteers to attend the funeral in full drees urjiform. The Irish Rifles have lost a good member in Sergeant M'Devitt. Prom his knowledge of drill, ho was of considerable service to the Company when most of those composing it were in the recruit afcage. He was a native of Ireland, having been born at Convoy, in County Donegal. He served for a considerable time in the Royal Irish Constabulary, and for six years in the Canterbury police, which ho quitted in 1882. Since that year he wag licensee of the Carlton and Gladstone Hotels. His kindly heart and genial manners made him a popular man, and hia early death has occasioned widespread regret.
