BOOTMAKERS' UNION. AUCKLAND, Mat 12. In response to a request from the Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, Mr Mitchelson, M.H.E., late Minister of Public Workß, haa furnished a report upon several lines of railway north of Auckland rail--way; the Trunk line (branch line) eastward to Napier; Eotorua to Gisborne; Deep Water Extension to Whangarei j and loop line, Auckland to Penrose. Sir George Grey is a passenger by the Tainuij for Wellington. At' a meeting of the Operative Bootmakers' Union, it was decided to moderate ■Hie demand upon employers. The tariff lias been revised, and reductions made in several instances. Mr Noble's Temperance Mission meeting ■was very successful. He intends going South, if invited.
