City Council.

A special meeting of the City Council was held yesterday afternoon; present — His Worship the Mayor, and Councillors Bowman, Crooks, Tait, Hosking, Gray, and Grinsted. An apology was made for the absence of Councillor Kiver. His Worship explained that the meeting was a formal one to pass the accounts for last year. Each Councillor had been supplied with a printed copy of the accounts. Councillor Bowman moved, and Councillor Crooks seconded —" That the accounts for the financial year ending March 31, 1886, in compliance with section 133 of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,' be certified as correct, and that his Worship the Mayor be requested to sign them." Thiß was carried unanimously, and finished the business.
