N.Z. Wool-Growers' Association.
•*> THIS DAY. A meeting of the members of the New Zealand Wool-growers' Association was held this afternoon in the Agricultural and Pastoral Association's rooms. There was a good attendance, and Mr J. D. Lance, M.H.R., waa in the chair. The Chairman read an exhaustive statement relative to the spread of rabbits in the Amuri County, and the danger threatening Canterbury. A long conversational discussion ensued, in the course of which various rating, Government aid and voluntary contribution proposals were touched upon. Ultimately it was resolved — " That this meeting is thoroughly alive to the necessity of taking immediate steps to erect the wire nettingfence proposed, and is prepared to meet its fair share of the expense ; but is anxious to know to what extent the Amuri sheep farmers will contribute ; this meeting will leave the direction of the fence to be determined by the Committee appointed by the Amuri Sheep Farmers' Association." This closed the business.
