West Coast Railway.

• The following information as to the personnel of the Company formed in London to take up the East and West Coast and Nelson Railway contract has been supplied to us by Mr C. C. Bowen, Chairman of the Committee of Guarantors :— 1. Lloyd's, Barnett's, and Bosanquet's Bank (Limited), which takes the chief part in promoting the Company for the formation of the East and West Coast Railway, is one of the strongest private Banks in England. The Board of Directors of the proposed Company is composed of only a few working members.

Mr T. Salt, M.P., is Deputy-Chairman of ! Lloyd, Barnett, and Bosanquet's Bank. He ■ is also Chairman of the North Staffordshire Eailway Company, and was a member of the last Conservative Administration. ' Mr Edward Brodie Hoare is one of the City Directors of the same Bank. Sir Charles Clifford is too well known in New Zealand to need further description. Mr Hilton is a member of the well-known firm of Miles Brothers and Co., Gracechurch ' street. The solicitors are Messrs Freshfields and ! Williams, solicitors to the Bank of Eng- \ land. : It is the intention of the Direotors to put the scheme before the public in Lon- W don as free from promotion money as they have received it from the guarantors in Christchurch.
