+ An inquest was held yesterday at Butler's Hotel, Sheffield, before C. Whitefoord, Eb*. Coroner, on the body of Chriatiasa Sarab Parke, aged 17 years, who died rather •uddenly on Thursday last. The evidence of the mother and sister of deceased weit to show that deceased had caught a severe chill two years previous to her death, which brought on hysteria, and from this complaint she had suffered up to the time of her death, for which Bhe had been prescribed for by Dr Micicle in Chrißtchurch. Dr Meadows, in evidence, stated that from the evidence he had heard, and his previous knowledge of the cose, it was kis opinion that deceased had, in the first place, suffered from hysteria, which had drifted into epilepsy, from whioh she had died. The jury brought in a verdict tbat deceased died from opilepsy. [Per Pbsbb Association.] AUCKLAND, Mabch 2H. Mrs Askew, of Newmarket, died of ta overdose of laudanum. It is supposed Tk> be a case of suicide, as she has been, it is stated, in a depressed state of mind, owi?i£ to unsuccessful speculations. BOSS, Mabch 20. A lad named Walter Bernard disappeared yesterday morning at the mouth of the Totara river. He is supposed to have been drowned as the horse ho was riding returned home riderless. Later. The body has been found in the river. An inquest will be hold to-morrow. DUNEDIN, Mabcu 2!». At the inquest on Alexander M'Queca, who committed suicide by hanging himself, evidence was given that deceased had displayed a tendency towards insanity. Too verdict was, " He coruniittud ouioido whilst of unsound mind," and a rider was added, " that the Hospital authorities Bhould have ascertained the stute of his mind beforeliberating him."
