AUTUMN SHOW-THIS DAY.

The Annual Autumn Show of this Society iB being held to-day at the Foresters' Hall, Oxford Terrace. Tlie exhibits surpass both in number and quality those of any previous year, and the somewhat dulltoned room presents a very fresh and charming appearance. Many supporters of the Show have sent specimen plants and ferns for exhibition, among the more note* worthy being those of Mr Norman, centred by a fine Nikau palm ; Mr P. Cunningham a pitcher plant, and three fine specimens of the sarracenia ; Mrs Hyde's single dahlias and Miss Donald's collection of fifty varieties of pansies. Mr W. Stewart and Mr Davis Bhowed fine collections of apples, and Mr Bowley apples and peaches. The last-named also shone in vegetables with a large pumpkin, and some good, sound onions, weighing l£lb each. Among the special exhibits Mr John Eogers had a nice brace of cucumbers, Mr C. Rydes a bouquet, Mr Norman and Mr F. J. Hill dahlia blooms, Messrs R. Wood, F. J. Hill, and S. Jackman collections of vegetables, and Mr H. Wade mulberries and Italian blackberries, all of which were highly commended by the judges, and deservedly so. Mr Boot was very highly commended for two very nice bunches of grapes. The ordinary exhibits may be summed up as superior as regards fruit, excellent as to flower plants and blooms, while the vegetables were much better than might have been looked for at this season. Mr Rogers' collection of forty varieties of fruitß was very attractive, and his first prize apple, " Guntrip's Prize Nonpareil," is one of the best dessert apples we have yet seen.
