* [FBOM OUB OWN COBBBBPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Mabch 10. There -was a Cabinet meeting this afternoon, bnt no business of importance was brought forward. As soon as a full Cabinet can be got together, the Defence questions raised by Admiral Tryon will be discussed, with a view to submitting proposals to Parliament. The Post unders f ands that unless the Government gives a i immediate assurance, when Parliament meets, of its intention to introduce and carry through a general measure for reuniting city constituencies, it is the intontion of Mr C. J. Johnston to "bring in a Bill applying only to Wellington, and providing for the union of the Te Aro, Thorndon aud South Wellington constituencies. The value of the property occupied by the Government Insurance Department is act down by the city valuer at .£25,000. The Government purchased it for or .£7OOO less than it is now worth. The last two large shipments of apples and pears from Australia to Wellington have been pronounced absolutely free from the codlin moth. All the fruit has been closely scrutinised by the Customs •officers.
