Fires.
A reflection of fire was visible for in^ny hours last night in a northerly direction. It was ascertained that a largo grasß fire was blazing on the Oniimi Flat between Amberley and Cheviot. It waß feared from the direction the fire was taking that several of the telegraph poleß on the .main north line would be burnt down, with apossible interruption of communication. In fact, there was a contact between two of the wireß, as if one of the poles had fallen late last night, but the difficulty in connection with the transmission #f messages was satisfactorily got over.
