A curious termination of a trial recently occurred at the Ulster assizes. A young man named Hanley was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment for a criminal assault on a young woman. The prisoner stated in Court that he was willing to marry the prosecutrix, who also expressed her willingness to marry him. The Judge arranged for the marriage to take place, withdrew his sentence, and allowed the accused out on his own recognisances.
