Riccarton Wesleyan Church.

* \ I A neat little church of Gothic design, to seat some 300 people, is to bo erected by the Wealeyans of Riccarton, and plans for the building have been prepared by Mr P Theodore B. Jacobsen. It is to be conj structed of wood, the walls being of upright boarding, and the roof covered . with shingles, surmounted with an orna- ' mental iron cresting. The length of the ' \ church will be 40ft, and the width 25ft. ' The studs are to be 12ft in height, rising j from a concrete foundation 2ft above the r ground line. There is to be an open principal roof, wrought and chamfered I with ornamental brackets. A neat j bell turret will surmount the west end. The distance from the ground to the cross on this turret will be 49ft. The church is to be lighted by a three-light mullion window in the west end, and by seven single light windows in the sides. Above the large window are to be label mouldings, supported with ornamental carbels. A rose window will be situated in the upper part of the gable, which is to be -finished with two buttresses and an ornamental verge board. The entrance will be through double folding doors on the north-west of the building, protected by a porch of neat and effective design. At the west end of the building is to be a vestry 18ft long by 9ffc wide. The inside of the church is to be wainscoted to a height of 4ft, the remainder of the wall being plastered. Ventilation will be secured by means of louvreß in the roof and traps under the eaves. Tenders for the work are to be called at once.
