Wesleyan Methodist Church.

The Canterbury District meeting was held in Durham Street Church yesterday ; present— Rev J. Berry (President of the Conference), Revs J. J. Lewis, T. Bond, W. Keall, C. H. Garland, J. aldred, F. W. Isitt, W. J. Williams (Lyttelton), "W. Cannell (Springston), C. H. Standage (Leeston), J. A. Luxford (Kaiapoi), W. Rowse (Rangiora), L. Hudson (Woodend), P. W. Fairclough (Timaru), J. H. Grey (Waimate), W. G. Thomas (Temuka), David M'Nichol, T. J. Wallis (Ashburton), Te Kote (Rapaki).

After devotional exercises, the Rev J. Aldred was elected Secretary. The hours of session were then fixed at 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., and 2 to 4 30 p.m.

The Chairman (Rev J. Berry) then addressed the meeting. He thanked God for the unbroken harmony in which the brethren had worked during the past year. He reminded them of the increasing responsibilities falling upon them, and earnestly urged renewed consecrated effort.

The examination of ministerial character then followed, and the investigation was most satisfactory.

Arrangements were made for the hearing of a trial sermon from Mr T. J. Wallis, a probationer of one year's standing.

Mr Pattison, of Timaru, presented himself as a candidate for the ministry, and was appointed to preach a trial sermon, and to present himself for further examination on Thursday.

The Rev Te Kote; Maori Missionary, gave his report of last year's work (the Rev W. Rowgo acted as interpreter). He had, during the year, visited and preached at Rapaki, Taumutu, Wairewa, Akaroa, Arowhenua, and had under his pastoral care 178 adults and 191 children.
