Dastardly Attempt to Scuttle a Vessel.

♦ [Peb Press Association.] AUCKLAND, July 13. A dastardly attempt is proved to have been made to scuttle the brig Transport, loading in Manukau, last Sunday, by which she filled and settled on hard ground. An examination shows three augur holes bored through the copper, and an augur aboard has copper adhering to -the screw. Captain Roberts has had a survey mode, and proceeds to Auckland for advice and assistance. The vessel belongs to Captain E. Lewis, of Newcastle, and is uninsured.
