CHRISTCHURCH POULTRY ASSOCIATION.

* A meeting of the Committee of the Christchurch Poultry, Pigeon, Canary, and Cat Society was held at The Shades on Friday evening last 5 present — Messrs R. Evans (in the chair), J. Mather, A. Walker, E. Scott, G. C. Flexmore, J. E. Bashford, J. Goodman, W. G. Walker, G.Eitchie, W.H. Porter, and the hon Secretary. Apologies for absence were received fr«m Messrs E. E. Deacon and G. Duncan. The Secretary announced that the entries in poultry were 100 in excess of any previous year; and he had called for, and accepted the tender of Mr T. Dacre, to construct and deliver at the Hall the number of additional pens required. He had also engaged the City Keed Band for the show. The Chairman, on behalf of tho Staging Committee, reported that the poultry would be arranged in two rows on each side of the Hall, the pigeons down the centre ; the canaries

would occupy the stage, and the cats would be placed against the walla in the dreßs circle. Judging from the way the art union tickets were being disposed of, he anticipated a very large attendance; and in the arrangements of the Hall, the Committee had done everything in their power to study tho comfort and convenience of visitors. Mr A. A. White, late of Auckland, was, on the motion of Mr A. Walker, seconded by Mr Goodman, unanimously appointed to fill the position of judge of Langshans,. which had been left open at the last meeting. Mr W. G. Walker proposed—" That a special general meeting of members be called a fortnight after the show, to consider the advisability of holding a Dog Show in connection with this Society." Seconded by Mr Baehford and _ carried unanimously. After some routine business, which included the appointment of Class Stewards, the meeting adjourned until tomorrow (Tuesday) evening, at the Hall. ~ M ~- M -~~~*-~-- i ---------"»-i
