Major Cautlay will hand over the charge of the defence worla to Major Badham on Jane 10, and will ekortly afterwards proceed HomeColonel Whitmore sails south on defence bnsiness this afternoon. In consequence of the pacific nature of the cable messages from Home in connection with the Eusso-Afghan difficulty, th« expenditure on defences will be largely reduced.
