KAIAPOI VOLUNTEER CORPS.
A crowded meeting was held last evening in the Council Chamber. In the absence o£ the Mayor, Mr J. L. Wilßon occupied the chair, and explained that the Government were prepared to make a capitation allowance in accordance with the regulations for country Corps. It was then decided to form a Corps, and thirty persons subscribed themselves as joiningmembers. A Provisional Committee, consisting of Messrs W. R. May, A.T.Clark, J. Simpson, A. Simpson, A. Pearco, G. W. Wearing and G. Templeton, was appointed to carry on the Company until the offlcerß were chosen. Mr Wilson vroa made Secretary, and authorised to interview the Commanding Officer of the district re swearing in the men. Tho list for signatures will be open at Mr Wilson's office.
