The Steamer Star of the South.

♦ [Per Press Association.] GEEYMOUTH, Dec. 23. The Star of the South has not been touched to-day. She is steadily sinking down the stone slope, and although her stern must have been resting on the bottom for some time, she still sinks as if a scour was at work around her stern, allowing her to sink deeper. Her cargo has been washing out of the hold all day, but the hull has apparently received no damage as yet. The masts still stand and the sails are set. The boats were not removed, and floated away. One has since been picked up on North Beach, The vessel will be sold by auction to-morrow morning for the benefit of whom it may concern. Two surveys by nautical men were held during the day, and in each case it was considered to be dangerous to life to be on board.
