■» jJS'PECXAX TO THE "STAB."] AUCKLAND, Dec. 24. No fast work was done on the course this -morning. The Lad, who is a commoner to look at, spurted for about a mile (in clothing) and was afterwards stripped and aent twice round at a fair pace. The Poet and Minerva (in company) strode along for a couple of miles, but just before puling up The Poet struck his legand pulled up a trifle sore. He was soon afterwards walked around the paddock, and appeared to be sound. King did a good strong gallop alone, and Thunderbolt and Derringer were sent a smart mile on the plough. Libeller and Administrator each went once round alone at a good pace, and all of Bay's team did easy tasks. Turquoise, and Youth worked before daylight. Nothing else of importance was done.
