Messrs S. P. Andrews and Co. offered for sale to-day by public auction the right and jprivil ege to erect a publican's booth, and to supply refreshments generally, at Lancaster Park during the coming cricket matches, commencing on Friday next. After some spirited bidding, the lots were eventually knocked down to Mr Collier for "the sum of £30. Miss Georgie Smithson, whose severe accident has for so long incapacitated her from following her profession, ia at length enabled to recommence her efforts to amuse the public. On Friday and Saturday she will appear at the Lyttelton Oddfellows' Hall, her entertainment consisting of cha racter impersonations, with included songs and dances, and comprising no fewer than 27 sketches. She will be assisted by Mi Hennessy, comedian. The privileges of one day's sport at the Summer race meeting, to take place on Jan. 1 next, were sold this afternoon by public auction at Warner's Commeyial Hotel, Mr E. Campbell Officiating as auctioneer. There was a moderate attendance, and the bidding was fairly -risk for some •of the items offered. The rights for the publicans' booths -were bonght by* Mr E. Kiddy for —520. For the right of sports no bid -was elicited, and though the auctioneer xeturned to the charge after he had disposed of the confectioner's booth, nobody would be tempted. The confectioner's booth was knocked down to Mr _ _ ii chin for £7 10s. A private sale of the booth under the stand and the horse yards was effected, and the amount paid for them did not transpire. The annual meeting of the Loyal Eangiora Lodge of Oddfellows took place last evening, and was fairly attended. The balance-sheet of the Amalgamated Oddfellows' and Druids' anniversary gathering, .held in October last, was presented by the Committee. It showed receipts .£96 6s, -expenditure £74 14s 9d, leaving a balance to the good of £21 lis 3d: Several members -expressed pleasure at the highly satisfactory nature of the statement, and on the motion of P. G. M'Aleer it was adopted, and a hearty vote of thanks passed to the Committee, who had so successfully carried out the fete. The election of officers was then made, as follows : — Grand Master, Bro B. Whitham ; N.G., Bro W. Wilson ; "V.G., Bro C. Jones ; 8.5., Bro J. Marshall ,- Auditors, P.G/s Bro J. Marshall and C. _. Jennings ; Supporters to the N.G., P.G. Bro J. M'Aleer and Bro J. . C. Todd -, to the V.G., Bro Williscroft; Guardian, P.G.M., Bro A. Barrell; Lecture Master, O.M. Bro Whitham. The officers were in--talled by Provincial Grand Master A. BarTell, and several matters of routine afterwards received attention. The receipts of the evening amounted to £89 Is 2d, and the expenditure to £36 4s lid. The annual meeting of the Pioneer Juvenile Lodge connected with the above Lodge was held the same evening, there being a good attendance. The election of officers resulted as follows :— G.M., Bro F. Sendall ; N.G., Bro T. Keir; V.G., Bro J. Payne; E.S., Bro Wil _ s. The minor offices were also satisfactorily filled, and the Grand Master was appointed to take Bro. Keir's office until he is sufficiently recovered from his recent accident to act. The rest of the business ■done was principally routine, and the Lodge was closed in the usual manner.
