The Dunedin Shooting Case.
[Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, Dec. 21. At the Police Court yesterday, Bucaup Jacob Vandyke was committed for trial for shooting at Mary Annie Wadsworth with intent to kill. Miss Wadsworth, in her evidence, said she had never spoken to the man in her life. He had at times bidden her mother good morning, but that was all. Mrs Wadsworth said she knew accused by sight, but knew nothing of him except that .he used to pass their place and sometimes said " Good morning " to her. He was never in their house. About twelve on the day of the shooting witness and her daughter were driving home in their milk cart and passed accused in his cart. They droye by accused very quickly, who waved his hand and shouted "Hey." Accused kept within an easy distance from witness' cart till he got to his own turn, and when he saw that witness and her daughter had passed he stamped his foot and seemed in a great rage. Mr Stanford, who appeared for accused, asked for bail, which the Bench fixed at with two sureties of .£IOO each.
