HOBAET, Dec. 22. Arrived, on Saturday — Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's steamship Arawa en route for New Zealand.
MELBOUKNE, Dec. 22. Mr Murray-Smith, the Agent-Gene-ral, telegraphs to the Government that lie has seen Sir Bobert Herbert, the Permanent Secretary of the Colonial Office, and that that official doubts the reported Gernun annexation of the Northern portion of New Guinea and the Islands of New Britain, New Ireland, New Hanover, and the Admiralty Group. Mr Smith adds that the German Embassy in London denies the truth of the information received to that effect.
