FOREST CONSERVATION.
WELLINGTON, Dec. 19. Keuter has several times lately referred to the outbreak of small-pox at Sydney as spreading, but the Government have received a telegram from the Colonial Secretary of New South Wales informing them that this is incorrect, and that the disease is not spreading 1. . The executive officers of the Industrial Exhibition are losing no time in maturing their plans. The drawings showing the design for the buildingare nearly completed. There will be two frontages to the main building, one of 277 ft and the other of 200 ft. The entrance doors will be 14ft high, the front of the building being also relieved by handsome windows. A corridor 30ft wide will conduct visitors to the main building. Sir Julius Yogel, who it will bo remembered gave a good deal of attention to the subject of forest conservation when previously in office, and induced Captain "Walker, of the Indian Forest Department, to visit "New Zealand and report on our forests, is again taking mean? to ascertain the condition of our forests, with a view to the adoption of active measures for their better preservation.
