UNION STEAMSHIP COMPANY.
A number of important alterations have been nude in the Union Stenusiiip Company's arrangements, in ooi!fie*i'J-?iic» of the approach of tho holidays and other causes. The first is the establishment of an additional weekly trip to Nelson daring the holiday season. The s.s. Wanaka is the boat selected for the service, and she will leave Lyttelton on the first trip on Monday. A weekly service from Auckland to Sydney will be started on Dec. 10. The Kiagarooma is to make the opening trip. This vessel is to take the place of the Rotorua while the latter is undergoing an overhaul at Dunedin. The first of the Union Steamship Company's cargo-steamers, the Ohau, left the Clyde on Nov. 17, and is duo in this Colony abont the middle of January. The Taupo follows two or three weeks later. The Tekapo is announced to leave the Clyde ob Dec. 1, with cargo and passengers direct for Port Chalmers. She has been delayed in order to take the place cf one of the regular ships trading monthly between Glasgow and New Zealand. Mr C. D. St Pinnock, late branch manager at tevuka, has retired from the service of the Company, and has been replaced by Mr Ernest Ford,' late agent at Russell. Messrs Collins and Co. will sneced Mr Ford at Russell.
