The Minister for Public Works.

. «. The Hon E. Richardson, by appointment this morning with Messrs Holmes and Garrick and His Worship the Mayor, went over the Provincial Government Buildings, with a view to ascertaining the amount of accommodation the premises would afford to the City Council. His Worship pointed out what the Council required, and Mr 1 Richardson expressed a wish to have a fully detailed report furnished to him, which he would submit to the Cabinet on ■ his return to Wellington. Mr Hulbert promised to comply with the request. In the course of the morning the Hon E. Richardson was interviewed also by Mr Hatch, M.H.R. for Invercargill, with Mr Handyside Chairman of the Nightcaps Coal Company, who had come up to see him on the subject of tenders for the supply of coal. They asked the Minister to reconsider the decision recently come to by the Government. Mr Richardson, after hearing them, promised to refer the matter to Wellington.
