i I TOURISTS' CYCLING CLUB. ! Owing to the unfavourable weather which prevailed last Saturday, the run to | Springston did not take place. Next i Saturday, Kaiapoi will be the destination ! of the meet, which will assemble at 2.15 p.m. sharp, at headquarters. Weather and roads permitting, the Committee propose ! an extension of the run to Woodend, rej turning to Kaiapoi for tea, and to town ' about half-past seven. On Wednesday evening, the Club will meet at the Post Office, at 5.5 p.m., in order to ride down with the P.B.C. to their evening Race Meeting at Lancaster Park. It might be a convenience for members to know that notices of all T.C.C. fixtures are posted up at Mr A. E. Preece's rooms, 162, Colombo street, daily, during business hours. On Saturday afternoon a member of the Tourists' Cycling Club, accompanied by a friend, and both mounted upon a " Coventry rotary tandem " tricycle, enjoyed a run out to Lincoln and back. The machine, one of the latest novelties in cycles, is i simply one of Rudge's well-known Coventry rotary tricycles with an additional seat. This seat (or saddle) is directly behind the other, but with sufficient room between them to allow of each rider exerting his full powers without incommoding the other. The advantage of the machine possessing two tracks only fully manifested itself during the run where the roads were heavy and horse and cart tracks the only smooth part. The machine is also capable of developing a great speed, and, in fact, the latter part of the return journey was run, although darkness had set in, at the rate of twelve miles an hour.
