Wesleyan Conference.
+ Thursday, Nov. 20. MORNING SITTING. The Conference resumed at 9-.30 a.m. THE EEV C. H. GOLDSMITH. The Secretary announced that he had received a letter from the Eev C. H. Goldsmith, expressing regret at his inability to be present, but stating that he hoped to be well enough to attend on Saturday morning. PROTESTS. Tlie President referred to a protest by the Eev E. Bavin, which had appeared in print. He had kept close to the Standing Orders whenever his attention had been directed to them. He had given way when the previous question was moved, Mr Watsford objecting that there was no standing order on it. Some of the brethren on one occasion had called "Divide," but there was no standing order on that point. Neither wts there any standing order with reference to protests. As Mr Bavin's protest had appeared in print he thought it right that he should now rule that it could not be received. Of course the Conference could, by resolution, require him to receive it, but then he could take another point, viz., that the resolutions, though moved and seconded, had not been . submitted in writing. On these two points he would rule that the protest could not be received, apart from the fact that its discussion woidd not be edifying. (Hear.) EOOK OF DISCIPLINE. The Conference resumed the discussion on the Laws, Regulations, and Customs of the Australasian Methodist Church, the business done being principally verbal revision.
