" Diseased Nature oftentimes breaks forth ia strange eruptions."— Act HL, Scene 1. TO THE PUBLIC. SOME patients suffering from nervous affection* are afraid, from sheer bashfnlness sail modesty, to personally consult a medical man — other patients have not the self-possession and coolness when in the consulting room, to accurately describe their symptoms— their habits of life, and the nature of the disease they suffer from. Let such persons (he or she) sit quietly down ia the privacy of their own apartments, and with cafan minds describe clearly each symptom of their cava; a clear statement thus written, and laid before me. is far preferable in nervous diseases to a personal consultation. Where, however, a disease is of a peculiar and exceptional character, a personal consultation may become necessary ; but my success in correspondence is so great, thai, of the thousands upon thousands whom I have treated byletter during the last 32 years, not a single mistake has ever occurred, not a case has ever been mada public— in fact, the very simplicity of my system of correspondence prevents publicity. At tbe same time medicine* ar< sent to my patients in such a form as ti> defy det<?ction. How many thousands haTe I not brought joy to? How m.-my havo been enabled to enter into th» marriage state through consulting me? How many after marriage have privately consulted me and been blessed, and their married fires mode fruitful and happy ? How many .wasted ruined youths of both- saxes have also been restored to health, and thanked their manhood, for having consulted me by letter ? How many questions arise where the family physiciau is unable to unravel the case, and whereof ten the patient lingers on, not daring to tefl hh» family medicnl adviser the nature of his complaint, until consumption, wasting, or mental diseases set in, and the Bufferer gets beyond the curable stage, and is left n hopeless wreck? A letter written in the priv >cy of the room and dropped in the post-box reaches me quietly ; ths answer is returned as quietly and unostentatioualy, and the patient, without stepping from his chamber, except to post his h-tter, is by return of post pat infull possession of the nature of his cuse. His hopes ; are raised, his doubts removed, and he is comparatively a new man ; in fact, in many cases, a new being altogether. The only addition to the ordinary written letter the age, occupation, habits, and symptoms nothine more. The usual consultation fee of £1 (one pound) must be enclosed, otherwise no answer win be returned. There are* thousands of cases in daily life where a consultation with oneat a distance, wiU remove by a single letter a great fear, a great care, and it often solves what appears as an impenetrable mystery. Many a sad heart has beon made joyful on receipt ot an explanatory letter from me. To thos^ who are about to marry, I would say. ] consult me before domg so, and thus prevent many i after troubles, and remove many unnecessary fears i and prejudices ; to those more *■ specially who have ! suffered in early years from dise-ise, or who have yielded to their passinua, to these I say at once, consult with me, do not tarry, delays aredangeroos, and as an expert, my rime may not be always at your service, you can, by simply enclosing onepouud, have the benefit of my experience in tb* same manner as if I lived in yui own town, and with the additional advantage of thorough privacy. —Yours truly, LOUIS L.
