CONSUL GRIFFIN PROMOTED.

THE BELGIAN SETTLEES. AUCKLAND, Nov. 17. Consul Griffin has been promoted to be Consul at Sydney. His successor is expected by the next mail steamer. M. De Harven, connected with the Belgian Special Settlement scheme in this Colony, arrived by the mail steamer. Mr Beck, Agent-General for Belgium in Australia, is to meet M. De Harven in Wellington shortly, cominc over from Australia for that purpose. M. De Harven intends to leave for Wellington by the steamer on Thursday. He is staying at the Northern Club.
