After the usual interval the Englishmei commenced their first innings, Grace anc Scotton being sent in to face the bowling The Gloucestershire champion had scored 11 when he was run out. Barnes followed and with Scotton succeeded in making i temporary stand. Barnes, however, wai caught after contributing 19, and stump: were drawn for the day, Scotton being nol out with 21 to his credit, and the score standing at two wickets for 71.
