BIBLE-IN-SCHOOLS ASSOCIATION.

DUNEDIN, August 13. At the Police Court to-day, John Atkinson, charged with having, on „ August 7, stolen ,£75 in notes, the property of John Hamilton, at Oamaru, was remanded to that town. At a meeting of the Bible in Schools Association to-day, attended by about forty persons, the following resolutions were carried : — " That this meeting is of opinion that every effort should be made for increasing the membership of the Bible in Schools Association, with a view to exciting a greater interest in its objects throughout the community ; " " That this Conference request the Council to prepare a petition for presentation to Parliament, and take steps to have the same circulated throughout this Provincial district for signature by the electors." Mr Stout appeared in the Supreme Court to-day in the case Bank of Australia v. W. Guthrie, claim .£4103 16s 9d, balance on a guarantee. The case was only partly heard to-day, and goes on to-morrow.
