This Day. (Before E. Beetham, Esq., E.M.) Drunkenness. —J. Matheson, a man charged with drunkenness was remanded for seven days. On the previous night he had called at the Queen's Hotel with his clothes soaked with water as if he had been " taking a header" into the river. Mr M'Namara very properly detained him and sent for a constable. —Mary Kennedy was fined 10s, or 48 hours' imprisonment. — Three men, first offenders, and a woman who had not appeared before were fined 5s each. Civil Cases. —ln the cases of Donoghue v. Galbraith, claim £8 19s; Sutherland v. Bird, claim, .£lO 6s 6d; Browning v. Braid, claim £115s 6d; De Veaux v. Bell, claim £2 17s; and Johnston, Wood and Co. v. Harvey Bros., claim .£l3 6s Bd, judgments were given by default for the amounts claimed, with costs. —Three cases in which Marshall's Trustees were plaintiffs, and did not appear, were struck out. —Watson v. Smith, a claim for rent and damages, was adjourned till August 21. — Klingenstein v. Latham, claim £13 for board and lodging. Mr Byrne for plaintiff. Defendant said he wished to obtain possession of a diary containing notes of payments, which he had left at the plaintiff's hotel. Plaintiff promised to let him have it, and the case was adjourned till the following day.
