"A Working Man" Answered.
TO THE EDITOR OP THE " STAR." Sir, — With your permission, I would say a word in reply to " A Working Man's " letter in to-night's issue. Let me ask him if it is to a contractor's interest to have the wages low ? I hardly think so. A large estate owner may desire to havewageslow, but to a contractor high wages mean good times and the necessary adjunct, plenty of work ; in fact, I should think that of all men in the world a builder would desire to see a return of the bright days of six or seven years ago, with their high wages and plenty of work. If low wages were beneficial to Mr Reese, his business ought to be bright enough to-day, which, I am afraid, neither his nor any other builder's is at present. In conclusion, let me beg of the electors of Stanmore notto be misled at this crisis, but to return a man on whom they can depend. — I am, &c, ANOTHER WORKING MAN.
