♦ A cricketing pavilion will be offered at -auction at 12.30 to-morrow by Mr H. E. Alport. The Government inspection of the Sydenham Rifles will take place on Friday evening. - An anniversary meeting in connection with the Sydenham Blue Ribbon Society will be held in the Baptist Church, on "Thursday evening. The full programme of the complimentary •concert to be given in the Oddfellows' Hall to-morrow evening, under tho auspices of the Canterbury Caledonian Society, is advertised in this issue. At a special meeting of the Kaiapoi Borough Council held last evening, his Worship the Mayor presiding, the new rules and regidations for the conduct of the public cemetery were formally adopted. -Other business of minor importance was effected, and the Council adjourned. To-morrow afternoon, at 2 o'clock, his Worship the Mayor will formally open the Bazaar to be held by the Primitive Methodists in Mr Hugh Bennett's auction room, Cashel street. In connection with the Bazaar, several novelties are to be introduced. A large tent is to be erected each evening for promenaders, and a service of song or some musical selections are to be rendered. The of song are to be given by the Primitive Methodist and Baptist Church choirß. The half-yearly meeting of the Loyal €ity of Norwich Lodge, No. 4356, 1.0.0. F., .M.U., Lyttelton, for receipt of balance sheet, &c, took place last night. There was a large attendance of members. The balance sheet, showing a credit balance of <£4000, was received and adopted. A framed Past Grand certificate was presented to Bro G. David, who suitably •acknowledged the compliment. Three candidates were initiated and seven proposed for membership. After transacting a considerable amount of routine business, the Lodge closed.
A general meeting of members of the North Canterbury Football Club was held at the Junction Hotel, Rangiora, last night, to consider the question of sending a team to Dunedin before the end of the season. Mr A. Chapman presided. Correspondence was read from the Oamaru and Dunedin Clubs, expressing willingness to arrange matches. After some discussion it was agreed, on the motion of the Chairuian^to send a team to Dunedin about the middle of next month, a start to be made at least ten days before the Interprovincial match is played. The matches spoken of to be played during the trip were with the Oamaru, Dunedin, Pirates, and Union Clubs.
