THE SCULLING CONTEST. WELLINGTON, June 22.
At a meeting of Hearn's supporters last evening, a Committee of five were appointed to collect Hearn's stake money. £58 was collected in the room. The weather has now cleared up, and no damage whatever is reported from the recent continuous rain. The Evening Post is published in an enlarged form this evening. DUNEDIN, June 22. Last night's Star says :—" A telegram has appeared in several of the northern papers stating that arrangements have been concluded for the transfer of the Norwich Union Company's business to the National Company, but we are authorised to give a most unqualified denial to the statement. The local representatives of the Norwich Union are unable to account for the statement being put in circulation." When the Night Hawk, for Calcutta, was shipping her horses on Saturday, bo large a crowd collected at the wharf that two special constables had to be obtained to keep a passage clear.
