THE KAITANGATA COAL MINE.
THAT INTERESTING "INFANT" AGAIN. DUNEDIN, June 10. The barque Nighthawk, now in Dunedin, will take 150 horses to India for military purposes. They have been purchased by Mr Cavanagh, who will continue the trade if this adventure is satisfactory. At the inquest on Frederick Nicholls, who took laudanum, a verdict of "Temporary insanity induced by drink " was returned. The Directors of the Kaitangata coal mine, accompanied by Mr Einns, Government Inspector, and others, inspected the mine to-day. They blocked off all the portions in which lire may be burning, though none was actually seen, and men were put in to get out coal again. In the case of Dunn agaiust Morris, which was an action for seduction, defendant made application to have the verdict against him set aside on tho ground that he was an infant under 21 years of age at the time he was sued. The application was argued before Mr Justice Williams, who decided this morning that he would not disturb tho verdict.
