THE PANMURE MURDERER'S CONFESSION.

(Per s.s. Hauroto, via Wellington.) Sydney, June 3. Information has been received by the Government of a threatened invasion of dynamite emissaries from America. • Some time since the San Francisco detective police communicated to the authorities of this Colony certain information, to the effect that the dynamite party contemplated despatching emissaries to Australia, and subsequent communications confirmed this information. The matter was considered at a meeting of the Cabinet yesterday, when specific instructions were given to the Inspector-General of police to have the public buildings specially protected, and to niake a strict investigation of the American mail steamers. At the race meeting on Saturday Jessie won the Birthday Cup. Archbishop Moran, on his arrival, will be the guest of Governor Lof tus at Government House. Bishop Barry has brought a storm about him, having avowed himself a moderate drinker. The weather is very fine and mild. Brisbane. The Governor has departed to visit Cooktown and the northern ports. The steamers Archer and Taldara lately came into collision in the Brisbane R*iver. Both were a good deal damaged, but no accident occurred to those aboard. Mr Garrick, the Agent-General, is recovering. Melbourne. Margan, under sentence for the Panmure murder, has made a full confession of his guilt. He said he had several drinks, and must have been maddened by them. He says that the girl made such a resistance that he killed her outright. The Sandhurst mining returns for May show a decided improvement. Tho small-pox case still remains at a doubtful stage.
