The Steamer Triumph.

BFFSOI OF THE GALE. [PBB PBBSS ASSOCIATION. J AUCKLAND, Dbo. 10. Eight tenders were received for floatisg the Triampb, sad delivery of the vessel in Auoklaud. The following particular* have transpired, though the tenders were not opened: — Mr Hawkeswood offers to undertake the work for £8000, on oondition that he receives 75 per cent as the work proceeds. Mr D. Gouk agreos to undertake the work for £9000, unconditionally. Mr M. Caul gives his prioe at £10,000, making it conditional that the agents shall deposit £100 with his £1000, and that he will forfeit his deposit should he not succeed in the undertaking. Mr 0. Bailey's tender is £15,000, unconditional, and Mr Fraser's £9100, alto said to he unconditional. At a meeting held this evening, present Captains Brotherton, Worsp, and Clayton, Messrs L. D. Nathan, ship's agent, and Dr Campbell, Lloyd's agent, it wai decided not to open the tenders, as the vessel had altered considerably, and it would not be fair to the tenderers to hold them to their offers. It was resolved that Captains Worsp and Clayton should prooeed to the Triumph to make a final survey, and report to Lloyd's and the ship's agents. It is more than probable this survey is being made with the view of selling the vessel. Captains Worsp and Clayton leave for the Triumph to-night. The pilot Bohooaer whioh was in the vioinity of the I'riumph about 10 o'olock this morning, has brought particulars respecting her ohange in position. It appears tbat during the gale on Sunday night the Triumph was lifted bodily from the position which she held with her bow on the rooks, and her oableß, whioh were out, having parted, she drifted broadside on to Jfiritiri, and when the pilot schooner left her stern waß on the rooks with the propeller out of the water, while a large rock was right under the engineroom; The sea was making a clean breach over her dook, and the protpeot of floating her appeared worse than ever. Daniel Finnergan, a third-claßß immigrant by the I'riumph, who bad been at Hobson's Hotel with Dr Menzies, of the Triumph, who has been staying there, has been arrested on a charge of stealing from the dootor's bedroom his gold watoh and chain, pendants, and purse, total value £91. Dr Menzies, after announcing* his loss and having the hotel searched, subsequently, it seems, got all the property from Finnergan, who said he took it for a lark. The deteotives were net satisfied, and arrested Finnergan.
