Determined Suicide at Dunedin.

ALABMINGr CONDUCT. [Pbb Pbbbb Abbooiatioh.] DUNEDIN, Duo. 3. James Young, a watohmaker, oommitted suicide at South Dunedin on Saturday. Deceased arrived in the Colony four months ego from Great Britain by the British King. On his arrival he went to live with his unole, Mr Cunningham, at South Dunedin, and became attached to one of Cunningham's daughters ; but his suit was discouraged by his unole. A short time since deceased went to Outram, and there opened a small shop as a watchmaker and work* ing jeweller. On Thursday he came to town and met Miss Cunningham, who de* dined to have anything to say to him. After this he knocked about town, drinking, and once or twioe spoke of committing suioide. On Saturday, about two hours before he shot himself, he told a young woman at Keneing* ton that he had been badly treated, and that he would do something at Cunningham's at ten o'clook. Cunningham was told what his nephew had said, andsert for the polioe, who were in the house and were making enquiries at the time that Young fired the first shot. This first shot seemed to be fired into the street, and then deoeased ran from the building and fired again, the seoond shot penetrating his right breast. Young wrote this letter, addressed to a reporter:— "l done the deed myself, all through love. I blamo my friends for the deed ; it is all their fault. They promised roe their daughter's hand, and withdrew their consent. I cannot live without her. Let all who value true love shun them. The* have been my ourse all through life."
