[Pbb Fbbsb Association. J WELLINGTON, Nov. 80. The Wellington Racing Olub'e Spring Meeting was held on the Hutt raoeoourse to-day. The weather was dull and threatening. About 800 were present. The oourse was in splendid condition and a good day s sport was had. The following ara the results :— Baiiway Stakes Handicap of 60 soys. One mile and a quarter. Mr Owen's Sir George. Bat Ulb ... The start was a wretched one, Sir George having all the best of it, and Derritt led the field at the turn by fully six lengths. At the baok of the course Administrator improved his position, while Dan was still eight lengths away. When crossing the road at the top of the oourse GraveBtock called on his mount, and the colt answering, challenged Sir George. A eplendid race ensued down the straight, both jockeys whipping hard. Sir George, however, could not be shaken off, and the result was a dead heat, Dan a bad third. The owners of Sir George and Administrator agreed to divide the stakes, and Bir George cantered round the course. Time— 2min 30iseo. A splendid start was effeoted, and at onoe Miss Juan took a lead of a few yards, but almost immediately Odd Trick took up the running, and passing the stand the first time he had a clear lead of a length, with Derritt olose up. Towards the baok of the oourse The Poet came up, and Miss Juan challenged Odd Triok. Entering the straight D»n was lying fourth, but The Poet answered to the call given him and won by a length, Odd Trick a good seoond, with Miss Juan close on his quarters. The other horses were nowhere. Totalisator dividend, £3 7s. The owner of Sir George laid a protect against The Poet on the ground teat he crossed Dan and Sir George. After due consideration the Stewards disallowed the protest, and gave the stakes to Tbe Poet. Several of the jockeys allege that both Odd Triok and Miss Juan went inside the posts. The Hack Eaob was won by Swordsman, and the Consolation Handicap by Odd Trick (Bst 91b), Mountain Deer (6st 71b) seoond. Treasurer fell.
