The Annexation Conference
SYDNEY, Nov. 28. At the meeting of the Annexation Conference to-day the Hon A. Stuart, Premier of New South Waleß, was eleoted President. The discussion today was confined to preliminary measures. It has been decided that the Press Bhall not be admitted to the meetings of delegates. The Annexation Oonference deoided to admit Sir G. W. Dea Vceux, Governor of Fiji, as representative of that Oolony. His Excellency subsequently submitted a memo, in reference to Pacifio annexation. The Hon W. A. Giblin, Premier of Tasmania, submitted a communication from Captain Audley Coote, Hawaiian Consul at Hobart, protesting againßt annexation of the Pacifio Islands. The Hon James Service, Premier of Viotoria, will submit a series of resolutions on the subject of annexation in the Paoifio to the Conference to-morrow. The five French escapees from New Caledonia, who arrived here in great distress, admit that they were convicted of felony. MELBOURNE, Nov. 28. The Melbourne manager of the National Mortgage and Agenoy Company of New Zealand Limited, reports on the looal grain market, as follows : — Shipping wheat is in fair demand at 4b 5d to 48 6d : malting barley, 3s 9d to 4a 3d ; prioes nominal. New Zealand oats are in limited request, and priceß are barely maintained ; feeding, 2s lld to 3s ld ; milling ditto, 3s 2d to 3s 3d ; New Zealand oats, under bond, 2s 2d to 2s 4d. Mr F. Brown, barrister-at-law, has been returned to the Legislative Conncil for the North-eastern Provinoe, the seat for which wab rendered vacant by the death of the Hon R. S. Anderson.
