♦ " Say, oaptain," said a fresh young man on a Sound steamer, "what's that thing over there ?" " A hawser," was the brief reply. " A horse P Dear me ! What do you use it for, captain P" "Well, when fools like you get tired of Bailing we just put a saddle on it and let them ride afhore," growled the gruff old mariner.
