♦ [Pbb Peess Association. J WELLINGTON, Not. 28. At the inquest this afternoon on the body of the Bey W. Sheriff, a verdicb was returned of " Committed suioide while of unsound mind." NAPIER, Nov. 23. The news of the suicide of the Bey Mr Sheriff at Wellington was received herewith widespread grief, as he was most highly respeoted. About two months ago, after an illness, his brain gave way. It was feared he would develop a suioidal mania, and when here he was watohed night and day. It was hoped that his affliction would be only temporary ; and to keep his family in the meantime a subscription was started, over £300 being raised to date.
