ORDER OF DRUIDS.
A very large and influential meeting of the above Order was held last night, at the Terminus Hotel, for the purpose of considering tho desirability of forming a Grand Lodge in New Zealand. P.D.P. Bro M. Moss and D.P. Bro D. Jones, of Otago distriot ; P.A. Bro Eeath, of Titnaru, and Bro Smith, from Aahburton, were present; also, representatives from Oxford, Bangiora, Kaiapoi, Methven, and Obristchuroh and suburban Lodges, D.P. Bro D. Sutherland in the ohair. Correspondence was read from most of the Lodges in New Zealand, which expressed sympathy with the movement. P.D.P- Bro Moss moved that a Dislriot Grand Lodge be established in New Zealand. His reasons for doing so were that he was sure that a obarter for a Grand Lodge would not be granted. A debate followed, in whioh most of the representatives spoke, the general feeling being strongly in favour of some governing body in New Zaalaad. On the motion being put the result was — Ayes, 25 ; Noes, 2 ; neutral, 2. P.D.F. Bro Mosb. of Dunedin, moved, and D.P. Bro Jones seoonded — " 7 hat an application be made for a Distriot Grand Lodge ; and also that the Grand Lodges be asked on what terms ' they will grant the same, in so far as retain* ! ing the liabilities for funeral claims or giving mi uey in lieu." The motion was put and I carried unanimously. It was resolved— " That the former resolutions be sent to all the District Presidents in New Zealand." At the conclusion of the busineßß, the Chairman, on behalf of the members of No. IS District, presented P.D.P. Bro C. Tomson with a very beautiful lockeb and albert ohain. Bro Tomson acknowledged the present in a suitI able speech, and a hearty vote of thanks to I the chair, closed the meeting.
