CONCERT AT OPAWA.
Last evening at the Opawa sohoolhonM a toirfe muticale was successfully held, the attendanoe being verj large, and the programme being well soleoted, though some alterations in it had to be made at the last moment, in consequence of the absence of Mr H. Wells, who was unable to be present through illness. Mrs F. Wilding took hie pluce at the piano in the first number, and played with Mr A. B. Kelsey "The War Marofa," from Athalie. Tho other instrumental numbers wore Beethoven's Sonata for violin and pianoforte in A, Op. 12, No. 2, played by Mestrs J. Coombs and A. B. Keleej ; Dohler'e Stude in D minor, Op. SO, plarod by Mrs Wilding ; Bail's Oavatina for. violin, played by Mr J. Coombs ; and Chopin's posthumous valse in B minor, played by Mrs F. Wilding. The vooal numbers were two part songs, " When Eveninp's Twilight" and "A Franklyn'e Dogge," HaU's "Vanity," and Oumming's " Homebound Sails," sung byMr 0. Boyd; Welling's "How shall I Wo© Her" and "Because of Thee," sung by Mr '.. Jppleby; and Pontet's "Tit for Tat/ sung by Miss J. B. Bpensler, who also sang Gounod's f'Ave Maria* on Bach's first prelude in 0 major, accompanied by Meim Ooombs and Kelsey. Between tho parts Mr Guise Brittan gave a reading. The proe r nmme was considerably lengthened through numerous enoores, in ronponso to whioh Mr Api>leby sang Pontefc'o "A Vision j H Mrs Wilding ropeatfd her pintio solo; Miss .■•penpley sarg Broßa'fl ponatc, with violin ohlignto, and " Little Apvii Fool ;" and Mr Boyd sang BlumontLfil'* " An KDglish Flag." 7'ho proceeds of the cntorlsinnvnt are to be applied in aid of tho fisv.da of St Mark's Oharoh.
