MEDICAL.

TO THB BDITOB OP THB STAB. Sib, —Like all son-professional persons, you seem to delight in little bits of what may be termed medical gossip. Sou have inserted in your paper of this evening two paragraphs on medioal subjects which really require a note. In one you quote a caution from an Australian paper about " acoepting tho dicta of expertß •" and then you give an aocount of some medical man (?) mistaking the bones of a greyhound for those of a child seven years old. Now, it is simply impossible for any educated medical man to make such a mistake. The mest elementary knowledge of anatomy, far lobb than is required for any recognised degree, would be amply sufficient to prevent such a blunder. The probability ia that the so-called " medical man," was one of those people who, on the strength of being druggists' assistants or hospital wardsmen, got themselves registered in the early days without any diploma whatever. There are a number of these men practising as legally qualified medical praotitioners in New Zsaland. In the succeeding paragraph you describe as " a new mode of vaccinating," % method whioh has boon in use to my personal knowledge for more than twenty years, and perhaps longer, and is now very oommonly employed. I, myself, have used it for the last twenty years.—l am, ko., i MEDIOU9. Ohristchurch, Sept. 11.
