9 The following telegram was reoeived on Saturday evening by the Mayor of Ohristohuroh from the Hon the Minister for Publio Works :— "-Arrangements have been made by wbioh labour will be provided for unemployed at the Addington Yards on Monday neri. Any applioant for work should be informed aooordingly. They should apply to Mr A. D. Smith at Addington. The work will be pieoe work breaking metal and some drainage work by the day," BelatFve to this arrangement we bave jnst reoeived the following letter : — TO THB BDITO3 OF THB BTAB. Bib,— Myself, with many more half-starv-ing people, have been to Addington seeking employment. We want employment at once,. to keep our little families from starving, and the answer we got from Mr Smith is we are to call baok again. Now, sir, we want to know if this treatment is according to the wishes of the Government. — I am, kc-., JOHN O'OONNOB.
